The day before Steppin’ Out and look at the result!

College Avenue Update, July 11, 2013

Exciting news! We are just about DONE! There are some minor things that need to be cleaned up and repaired. Next week the benches, trees, bollards, and other items will be installed.

Thank you all for your patience. Once the furnishings are installed next week, we’ll post some pictures!

College Avenue Update, June 28, 2013

There will be milling work at College and Main Street today and tomorrow from 7 am – 7 pm (weather dependent). That allows for crews to do the work with some padding in there in case anything goes wrong. It may not take until 7 pm.

As a result of the work, College Avenue will be closed from Main to Draper. No left turns will be allowed from College Avenue Extension (Old Main) to Main Street. However, people can turn right and College Avenue Extension will remain open. There will be flaggers in the area to direct traffic. Please use caution while traveling in the area.

Work will also be done near the Squires Center parking lot on Otey. The road will not be closed, but there will be flaggers in the area.

Saturday, the sidewalks will be pressure washed.

Next week crews will sand the bricks. There will be no work on July 4 and 5.

It’s looking great! Thank you for your patience!

College Avenue Update, June 21, 2013

We are so close to the end!

Crews will be working through the weekend.

NEXT WEEK:

There will be milling work at College and Main Street. Right now it is tentatively scheduled for Thursday from 7 am – 7 pm (weather dependent). That allows for crews to do the work with some padding in there in case anything goes wrong. It may not take until 7 pm. We will know more for sure next week if it will be Thursday. If the weather looks bad for that day, the work will be on Wednesday or Friday. I will send out a Blacksburg Alert when we know for sure.

College Avenue Update, June 13, 2013

Next week, Draper Road will be open as well as the turn lanes on Main Street. Work still needs to be done in the Draper Road area, so there will be flaggers as needed.

Brick and concrete work continues. The sidewalk between Gillie’s and Happy Wok will be heavily impacted with detours as the colored concrete is poured.

Thanks for your patience everyone. We are hitting the home stretch!

College Avenue Update June 6, 2013

This monsoon we are having has put a damper (no pun intended) on construction plans today and tomorrow, as a result, there will be no left turn on to Draper Road from College Avenue until June 14. To allow for concrete pouring, there will be intermittent road closures on College Avenue all of next week. Emergency vehicles will have access at all times.

Also, the turn lanes on Main Street to College Avenue will be closed. Turns can be made from the main travel lane.
